Third Generation Hilgers Farm – The
Hilgers farm was featured in the Waconia Patriot June 23, 1960. Some of the following information was taken
from this article.
Ray Hilgers has owned the farm for the past 14 years. Previous owners were Leonard Hilgers who was born on the farm and operated it until he moved to Cologne Village in 1943. Before that, it was the farm of John Hilgers, Sr., who homesteaded the farm. It is located off 284 between Cologne and Waconia. Among the most recent changes on the farm is the addition of a silo and the rearrangement and repair and modernization of the buildings. Main crops are corn and alfalfa. Ray and his Father, Leonard, hauled or trucked milk from the dairy herd to the Waconai Creamery for many years. The home in this picture is the second home built and current owners have replacet it with a third home.
